For decades, Rosemary Dexter has been a fabric artist, quilter, and designer. Her earlier Elements: A Quilt Series delighted our customers. As a resident of Central Coast she is also a global citizen and has lived in Central and South America along with her family.
Why she chose share these creations.
"Why not make use of what is around me to benefit girls and women? I began to use raffia as a base and combined with threads and yarn. I benefit from working with my hands and connecting mindfully to making each unique strand." - spoken from the wisdom of being well into her 90's.
Her sustainable designs begin with a fibre extracted from raffia palm. She selects color combinations from her selection of yarn and makes the fiber. This process takes over a day per bowl. Then she begins to wrap and stitch the bowl (via sewing machine) for another day or two. The end products are strong and of course one-of-a-kind.
Our collection of these bowls is inspired by the wisdom of sharing. Each bowl can represent a special inspiration or a creative gift.
You'll for sure find something special and individualized to use the bowl for. I imagine the bowls as filled with healing and select daily intentions.
